Ernie Pyle Museum Gallery
The museum aims to honor Ernie Pyle, his storytelling, World War II and its veterans. Visitors can browse historical photos and documents, take in 3-D recreations and watch archival film footage. Artifacts from the era are on display along with Pyle’s personal items including his passport and the Purple Heart awarded after he was killed in 1945 on the island of Ie Shima. More than 300 veterans who served in the war from Helt Township are recognized in the museum where visitors can learn about their stories on a computer kiosk.
