Parades, Honors and Accolades

Early every August, to coincide with Ernie Pyle’s birthday, the museum hosts the Ernie Pyle Firemans Festival. The event, held in conjunction with Helt Township Fire and Rescue, features a parade, car show, fish fry, readings of Pyle’s work and more. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate recognitions and honors like the 2018 proclamation designating Aug. 3 Ernie Pyle Day in Indiana. The proclamation, signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb, was read during that year’s festival.
